The Bromley Common Practice, a two storey surgery serving 6,000 patients, has completed the sale of its premises to Assura Property.
Practice manager Kate Watney says that the practice decided to sell and leaseback its premises in order to ease succession and retirement issues.
“We entered into the sale and leaseback arrangement to help buy out a senior partner who retired late last year. In addition we wanted to avoid further difficulties in the future when other partners decide to retire.”
The surgery was built in the 1960s and is currently operating over capacity. It is hoped that the practice will be able to relocate to larger premises in the near future and Assura Property will look to assist them where possible.
Peter Hadley, regional director of Assura Property said: “We are delighted to have been able to assist the practice with the sale of their premises. Assura Property is keen to work with GPs and PCTs to find new opportunities of providing health centres that can improve care for local patients.”
