Assura Minerva LLP has launched a new private sexual health service at The Bath Clinic, Claverton which offers consultation, advice, counselling, screening and treatment by specialist doctors.
Patients do not need to be referred into the service by their GP and, in many cases, can be seen and treated on the same day.
With over 1,000,000 people being screened for sexual health conditions in the UK last year, the general public are becoming more aware of sexually transmitted infections and are determined to act positively to fight these diseases with the effective treatment available.
Assura Minerva LLP is a partnership between all the 27 General Practices across Bath and North East Somerset and Assura, a leading healthcare provider, working closely with the NHS, local GPs, clinicians and the local primary care trust. It is committed to delivering high quality care to patients that is convenient and efficient.
The partnership provides a range of outpatient and diagnostic services in the community to make them easier to access for patients. Assura Minerva already provides successful services for NHS and private minor surgery, and NHS deep vein thrombosis. These are available in community settings close to where patients live via a referral from their GP.
Commenting on the new service, Amanda Simpson, business director of Assura Minerva LLP, said: "The service recognises that some patients prefer the additional benefits of using private services; faster results, highly confidential and personalised care."
"As our business develops, a greater range of services will be available, including an NHS Community Fracture Clinic starting in early 2009."
