The Assura Late Night Pharmacy in Macclesfield recently celebrated its first birthday with a staff party - complete with a cake! To mark the first year of business at the busy store in the Waters Green Medical Centre Macclesfield.  The staff at the store celebrated the success of the store on the 25 September.

Since its opening in September last year, the store has exceeded all expectations in terms of performance and is the busiest store in the Assura portfolio, and the pharmacy chain has plans in place to extend and improve the store in the first six months of 2008.

“In order to build upon our services here at Assura Macclesfield we have been listening to our customers and asking them what they want to see in-store,” says Paul Sanderson, Pharmacy Manager, “so we are already looking at ways to improve our service. It’s been a privilege serving the community thus far this past year, and we look forward to continuing this with even more services in place in the future.”

The Late Night Pharmacy offers many enhanced services in-store including: blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring; diabetes testing; a weight management programme; a drug misuse service; smoking cessation; and an out of hours pharmacy service.

Assura’s vision for a new generation of pharmacies comes in direct response to the Government’s plans* to modernise the pharmacy service and integrate it more closely within the NHS primary care services currently provided by GPs and PCTs.
