Church View Primary Care Centre officially unveiled

Church View Primary Care Centre opening ceremony with Edward Timpson MP cutting the ribbon

23 September 2008

Local dignitaries, health centre staff, GPs and patient representatives were treated to a local jazz band at the official opening of the brand new Church View Primary Care Centre, Nantwich.

Edward Timpson, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, led the celebrations, cutting the ribbon and praising all those who had been involved in the development.

The new building was funded by Assura, in conjunction with Henry Davidson Developments, and accommodates a range of healthcare facilities including three local GP Surgeries, Cheshire East Community Health Services and an on site pharmacy.

Throughout the development Assura established a close working partnership with the Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust who had the original vision and commitment for a major modernisation of primary care facilities in the local area and which has since brought about enormous benefits to patients.

Patients have also been very involved from the outset. Early last year patients were asked to submit ideas for the name of the new health centre. From well over 100 suggestions, the favourite was Church View Primary Care Centre, which is what the facility is now known as.

Speaking at the event, Andrew Darke, managing director of Assura's property division, said: "Church View Primary Care Centre is one of six investments Assura has in primary care centres in the Central and East Cheshire area; the others are in Barnton, Crewe, Macclesfield, Sandbach and Winsford. This is the third health centre to be opened this year.

"They are among the best primary care facilities in the country and we are very proud of the quality and design of the building which has been so warmly welcomed by patients, doctors and staff."

Mike Pyrah, chief executive of Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust said: "I am delighted to be here at the official opening although patients have been using the Centre since July 2008.

"Since the doors opened more than 15,000 patients have come to the new building for not only GP services but also community services such as, physiotherapy, blood tests and specialist nursing services."
