Plans for the redevelopment of a much needed new primary care premises in North Shore, Blackpool have moved a step closer after Blackpool Primary Care Trust selected Assura Property as preferred development partner.
Following an invitation to tender, Assura was chosen from a shortlist of four bidders to take the project forward as it has a proven track record in providing modern primary care centres.
The plan is to provide state-of-the-art new premises for 12 GPs from the North Shore Surgery serving around 28,000 patients. The new centre will provide a range of new services including diagnostics, dentistry and an on-site integrated pharmacy.
Commenting on Assura’s appointment, Dr Steve Parr-Burman of North Shore Surgery said: "Everyone who has been involved in the proposals has been working to deliver a health service fit for the 21st century. This news means we are now closer to achieving that."
Dr Amanda Doyle, chair of the trust’s executive committee, said: "Our vision, to provide the people of Blackpool with the health care service they deserve, is now one step closer to reality."
Andrew Darke, regional director of Assura Property added: "We are delighted to have been appointed to work with Blackpool PCT to take forward this very exciting scheme for improving health care facilities for the people of Blackpool."
